-Name, Etsy Shop: France Weaver, Atomic Stitches
-Location: SF Bay Area

-What you do:
I'm a freelance costume and clothing artist and seamstress and an avid thrifter.
I’m a wife, a free bird, and a stay-at-home Mom. I’m very whimsical and sometimes a little creepy in my style. I live for photo shoots, where my dreams becomes reality. Every day can be an adventure to a new place and/or time!

-5 words your friends would use to describe you: Happy, Friendly, Creative, Free, Positive.

-What is your inner world like? Magical~Happy

-What are your favorite mediums to work with? Anything and everything! I can pick up an item and turn it into something new. Everything has potential.

-What is a secret ingredient you throw into everything you make? Whimsical and sometimes creepy! Like in a photo shoot, I will take a pretty girl in a pretty dress but put her in an old creepy setting with my own, unique props.

-Do you go into a "zone" when you create? LOL, yes. When the creative juices are flowing I get into my groove and I wont stop until I have to.

-Where do you go or look to for your inspiration?
My inspiration comes from all things whimsical under the sun, under the moon and everywhere in between. Sometimes creepy, sometimes romantic. All things inspired by fantasy and fairytale, love, nature, history and everything in between.

TOP 5's

-5 Favorite bands/singers:
Music is my life. It’s my therapy. I can’t pick just 5 but if I must here they are:

~John Lennon/The Beatles stole my heart at a very young age.
~My favorite band to see live is Ghostland Observatory!! Their music touches me like no other and I will just dance the night away!!!!
~Pink Floyd may be favorite of them all. Pink Floyd has always been there to get me through the ups and downs of life.
~Sarah McLachlan has also helped me through life.
~Band Of Skulls

-5 Favorite books: I don't have much time to read anymore but I'm always collecting them.

-5 Favorite films: Amelie! Wrist Cutters, A Love Story, Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus, The Jacket and The Pianist just to name a few.

-5 Favorite meals: Mmmm! I love food. I love a good handmade deep dish pizza, a fat Dragon Roll….there are just so many flavors that I love! From Greek food to Indian food to goat cheese, basil, tomatoes, garlic (lots of it) watermelon with fresh mint and pop corn with fresh lemons squeezed all over the top! Yum!

-5 Favorite animals: My dog, Sgt. Pepper. Birds, I love to hear them sing. Cats, I love their independence. And horses, I used to ride when I was a kid.

-Are you the only creative one in your family or circle of friends? If so, how do you stay true to yourself?
Oh no my family is filled with creative people. My Grandmothers were quilters, my Mom Is a professional seamstress, my Sister also sews and creates. My Husband is an amazing cook and gardener and my mother-in-law is the jack of all trades! She can do anything and everything creative! My friends are all creative in their own way, we even have girls night at my house where we drink wine and create.

-How often do you go into creative mode? I think I'm always in a creative mode lol my mind never stops! But Music Always helps the mood.

-How has your childhood and experience affected your work?
Aww, I grew up in a loving home filled with animals: birds, cats chicken, rabbits, dogs horses and even a pet squirrel! My Mom was a stay-at-home mom who sewed all the time and always had crafts ready for us to make. She would always take me to the thrift stores where my true love for vintage and thrifting was born. I made my own clothes in high school and they were funky. I have always gotten compliments for my unique style in both clothing and my home, which makes me proud and happy.

-Do you have plans for your creations in the future? My future will always be creative. Wholesaling is not for me. I need to be free and create as I please. I’d die if I had to make the same thing over and over again.

-Tell us something about you that not many people would know off the bat:
I have 4 amazing kids, ages 19, 15, 14 and 7. I was a young mom. =)
My Daughter, Skylee, 19 is pretty creative too!
My 15 year-old Son Jordan also has a creative side, he molds tiny clay figures every day. And my other two boys Kennen & Josiah are pretty neat too! I teach my children to live life and explore and be free, to be themselves.
